　「アーサー王の死」を書き、騎士道の理想を説いた15世紀の詩人トーマス・マロリーは、強盗や強姦、羊泥棒、バッキンガム公暗殺未遂などの罪で８回も投獄され、2回脱獄している。一度は武器を使って強行突破、２度目は堀を泳いで逃走した。
